We’re delighted to announce that The Cardinall’s Musick’s 2012 Byrd Tour has started with a bang!
BBC Music Magazine are helping us celebrate with a special cover CD on the April issue featuring The Cardinall’s Musick with live performances of some of Byrd’s greatest works, including the epic ‘Infelix Ego’. See more by clicking here.
The opening concert of the tour at the Wigmore Hall on March 5th was a huge success, having sold-out months ago. Richard Fairman in The Financial Times described the singing as “clear, bright and forthright”, and that “the sheer joy of the music can still hold listeners in it’s thrall”. His article on the tour can be read here. Ivan Hewett has also taken a great interest in the tour, and his article in the Telegraph can be read here.
Similarly, reviewing the group’s debut performance at St George’s Hall in Bristol, Rian Evans of The Guardian commented “experiencing the vibrant and gutsy sound live in St George’s brought a compelling immediacy to this meeting of two Elizabethan eras.”
