We are delighted to announce that Pierre-André Valade has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of Lyon based Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, working in close collaboration with Music Director Daniel Kawka. Since founding the group in 1992, Kawka has built the ensemble into one of the finest of its kind in France, specialising in repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries, matching Valade’s talents perfectly.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed to the post of Principal Guest Conductor of the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain. My recent collaboration with the ensemble has further convinced me of the remarkable artistic standard with which I was already familiar through its first-rate performances under its founder and Music Director Daniel Kawka. The personal warmth shown me by the musicians confirmed my feeling that here was an ideal working environment.”
During the 2013/14 season Valade will conduct concerts with the EOC in Lyon, St Etienne, Grenoble, Antwerp, Geneva and Berlin, including performances of Heiner Goebbels’ dramatic cantata Songs of Wars I have seen.
