Mahan Esfahani‘s recording of CPE Bach’s Württemburg Sonatas for the Hyperion label has won a Gramophone Classical Music Award in this year’s Baroque Instrumental category. Described as having a “supple touch and disarming sense of rhetorical pacing” (David Vickers, Gramophone), the award follows a wave of fantastic reviews, including BBC Music Magazine‘s ‘Recording of the Month’ and The Sunday Times ‘Album of the Week’.
Elsewhere, the award for Choral recording of the year went to the Dunedin Consort’s recording of the Mozart Requiem, which features Rayfield Allied mezzo Rowan Hellier and bass-baritone Matthew Brook.
