Katie Bray has made her debut as Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville at Opera North, winning praise from the national press. Described by The Times as “a delightfully sparky and sympathetic Rosina” her performance in particular was highlighted by The Guardian - “it is the bright young mezzo Katie Bray who really impresses here, showing both the emotion and colour of voice to support Rosina’s challenging range.”
The production has performances in Leeds until October 29, after which it tours to Newcastle, Salford and Nottingham.
Later in the season she returns to English National Opera for Philip Glass’s Akhnaten and Garsington Opera for Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri.
