Casa da Musica is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this week, revolving around the “Venham mais dez” programme which loosely translates as “Becoming 10”. Part of the celebratory line-up includes a concert given by the Orquestra Barroca Casa da Musica and Laurence Cummings, who has been Music Director with the group since 2005 during which time notable concerts have included Francisco António de Almeida’s La Giuditta, and the Brandenburg Concertos amongst numerous other expertly-crafted programmes.
The concert on Saturday 11 April includes music from a wide variety of composers: Avondano, Vivaldi, J.S Bach, Seixas, Rameu and Handel.
Masterpieces of Portuguese Baroque will open both halves of the concert, with the Concerto for Harpsichord by Portuguese composer Carlos Seixas remaining one of the most important works within its genre. Laurence Cummings directs from the harpsichord.
