Mahan Esfahani‘s Deutsche Grammophon album ‘Time Present and Time Past’ has been named Best Solo Instrumental Recording of the year by Sinfini Music. In a list of the top ten classical music recordings of 2015, Mahan’s album was selected for “the astonishing ambition of this project [which] is equalled by its technical execution”. Reviewing the album for Sinfini at the time of release, Jessica Duchen commented: “At this rate he’ll simply leave others standing – or, perhaps, combing through the embers”.
Coupled with Mahan’s great success, the Dunedin Consort’s “sensational” recording of Bach’s Magnificat, which features Rayfield Allied bass-baritone Matthew Brook, has been named Best Choral Recording of the year - a remarkable achievement for both the ensemble and for Matthew.
