Michael Berkeley celebrates the 20th anniversary of his BBC Radio 3 programme Private Passions, with a special edition broadcast on Sunday 19 April. It will be available on iPlayer for 30 days.
For the last 20 years Michael has asked guests from all walks of life to select and talk about music which is important to them. Over that time his guests have included artists, philosophers, scientists and musicians from a variety of different backgrounds, and several of these archive editions are now being released as podcasts to mark the occasion.
There have also been excellent articles in both the Radio Times and Guardian.
New commissions from Michael this year include a Te Deum for Lincoln Cathedral in June to celebrate 800 years of Magna Carta, and a new work for cello and piano for the Ryedale Festival where he is composer-in-residence in July.
