On Sunday morning, Julia Jones conducts her first concert with the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal since becoming the orchestra’s General Music Director at the beginning of the season. The concert, which is tailored towards families and sold out quickly, features music from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Julia conducts the Sinfonieorchester in four performances this season, the next of which takes places on New Year’s Day.
Julia began the season with her returns to Oper Frankfurt, where her Falstaff was called “as vibrant a performance as one should wish in opera” (Bachtrack), and to Opéra national du Rhin, where her direction of L’elisir d’amore was called “irresistible” (Badische Zeitung) and she was praised for her “vivacity” (Res Musica). In the new year, she conducts Don Giovanni for Nederlandse Reisopera and makes her debut at Seattle Opera with The Magic Flute. Concert engagements include performances with the Orkest van het Oosten.
