Laurence Cummings sixth season as Artistic Director at the Göttingen International Handel Festival takes place during May 2017. Under the theme of “Faith and Doubt”, he presents six performances of the opera Lotario, alongside the Brockes-Passion, Handel’s only oratorio written to a German text. The festival opens in earnest on May 13 when he conducts a Gala Performance featuring the soprano Dominique Labelle, also broadcast on NDR Kultur.
Laurence returns to the UK in July 2017 when he conducts performances of Mozart’s early opera Lucio Silla at the Buxton International Festival, featuring fellow Rayfield Allied artists Joshua Ellicott in the title role and Fflur Wyn as Celia.
Further ahead details of the 2018 Glyndebourne Festival were recently released and we are pleased to announce that Laurence Cummings will conduct Handel's Saul. This will be directed by Barrie Kosky and is a revival of his hugely successful 2015 production, which won a Royal Philharmonic Society Award . Laurence conducted the production on tour in 2015 and will now return to conduct the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at the main Festival.
