On Sunday 15 October, the Borodin Quartet begins its 2017 tour of the US and Canada, what promises to be an exciting series of concerts:
15 October: Simms Center of Performing Arts, Albuquerque
17 October: Vancouver Playhouse
20 October: Morrison Center Recital Hall, Boise
22 October: Pollack Concert Hall, Montreal
24 October: 92nd Street Y, New York City
The Borodin Quartet will be performing two fantastic programmes, combining classic Russian repertoire of Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky with Myaskovsky's fantastic String Quartet No. 13 Op. 86 and Schubert's little gem, the 'Quartettsatz' String Quartet No.12 D. 703.
The tour begins with the Quartet's debut in Albuquerque, New Mexico as part of Chamber Music Albuquerque's 76th Anniversary Season. The Quartet then travels to Vancouver, returning to perform for Friends of Chamber Music Vancouver after the resounding success of their Shostakovich Cycle back in 2015. After Vancouver, they will appear for the first time at the Boise Chamber Music Series of Boise State University and then will return to the Ladies' Morning Musical Club in Montreal. The Borodin Quartet will conclude their tour with a return to 92Y in New York City.
This tour kicks off an exciting 17/18 season for the Borodin Quartet. After their US/Canada appearances, the quartet travels to Europe for a tour of Sweden and Denmark. Other season highlights include a new collaboration with pianist Barry Douglas at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, tours of Italy and the Netherlands, and concerts at Aix-en-Provence, Philharmonie Paris, Pour L'Art Festival in Pully, Palau de la Musica de Valencia, Wigmore Hall London, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, The Sage Gateshead in Newcastle, Bodensee Festival, Music and Beyond Festival Ottawa, Orford Music Festival, and Toronto Summer Music Festival.
