We are thrilled to announce the world premiere of Harrison Birtwistle's Keyboard Engine, Construction for Two Pianos at Aldeburgh Festival on 18 June. The new score is a further exploration of Birtwistle’s fascination with clocks, mechanisms and machines.
Written for Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich, the work will have subsequent performances throughout Europe and the US. The American premiere will take place at Carnegie Hall.
Also featured on 18 June are Birtwistle's Three Songs from the Holy Forest, a recent song cycle set to a text by Robin Blaser to be conducted by Oliver Knussen. This is the UK premiere of the complete work, with one of the songs being dedicated to Knussen.
