Sergio Tiempo begins his residency in Brisbane with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
The first part of his residency in Brisbane commences in April, with performances of Ginastera’s Piano Concerto No. 1, a piece for which he is particularly renowned, under the baton of Alexander Prior. His residency also includes a solo piano recital with repertoire from his latest disc, ‘Legacy’, released in January 2018 on Avanti Classics.
His recital programme features Beethoven’s Appassionata sonata, Debussy’s Reflets dans l’eau, pieces from A prole do bebe by Villa-Lobos, and Ginastera’s Malambo, amongst others. Each work is selected to represent a member of his family, all of which received warm praise from Gramophone for his "irrepressible originality", his "piquantly atmospheric selections" and his "truly liquid textures".
He returns to Brisbane to continue his Residency in July for performances of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 under Alondra de la Parra, as well as a specially crafted programme alongside QSO players as part of the Chamber Players series.
