On 5 December Scottish Opera’s production of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Greek opens at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, conducted by Scottish Opera’s Music Director Stuart Stratford. This will be his New York debut.
This production comes at the beginning of a busy season for Stuart, with performances at Scottish Opera of Katya Kabanova and concert performances of Mascagni’s Silvano. He also conducts the world premiere of Stuart MacRae’s Anthropocene for Scottish Opera. Earlier this season he returned to English National Opera to conduct Lucia di Lammermoor, for which he was described as “the ideal conductor for this concept” and was praised for his “intense engagement and energy” (The Telegraph, October 2018).
To find out more about the production, you can watch Stuart's interview at the Edinburgh Festival ahead of the performances in 2017. The performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music run from 5 – 9 December 2019 with tickets available from their website.
