We are thrilled that mezzo soprano Katie Bray has been chosen to represent England in this year's BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.
Katie was selected as the 2019 competitor for England through three rounds of auditions, including a live audition for Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Opera Europa's Nicholas Payne. She will perform in both the Main Prize and Song Prize Competitions, which will take place at St David's Hall, Cardiff between 15-22 June 2019 and will be broadcast across the BBC to audiences in the UK and beyond.
Currently touring as Varvara in Opera North's production of Katya Kabanova, other recent and upcoming highlights include Handel's Messiah with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Wolf's Italian Songbook at Milton Court with Roderick Williams and Christopher Glynn, and performances at the London Handel Festival with Laurence Cummings, with the Orchestra Chambre de Paris and Douglas Boyd, and with the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra.
Congratulations Katie!
