Under the direction of Laurence Cummings, The Academy of Ancient Music will open the season on 4th October, with Haydn’s The Seasons, a life-affirming oratorio of nature, humanity and the eternal cycle of the year, brought to life in a new co-production with The Barbican featuring Nina Dunn Studios’ specially commissioned digital projections, and staging by Martin Parr.
The AAM have entitled their upcoming season ‘Tis Nature’s Voice’, paying tribute to the natural environments in which we live and those that we create for ourselves through music.
In their own words, the complex theme has a very simple root; music of the highest quality, by Handel Vivaldi, Purcell, JS Bach and others, performed at the highest standard. Conducted and directed by Laurence, the season will enfold to present Bach’s Musical Offering, Purcell’s exuberant Hail! Bright Cecilia and Handel’s great earlier oratorio Il Trionfo del Tempo, also featuring Rayfield Allied’s Nick Pritchard.
