We are delighted to welcome mezzo-soprano Sophie Harmsen to Rayfield Allied for general management, where she will be managed by Nicki Wenham.
Sophie’s career began at Cape Town Opera, and she has gone on to sing operatic roles at Teatro Real Madrid, Opera de Dijon and Opera de Luxembourg, the Tiroler Landestheater and the Landestheater Salzburg, where she is currently appearing as Octavian in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier.
Sophie is a regular guest with orchestras such as the SWR Symphonieorchester, the Freiburg Baroque Orchester, Orchestre National de Paris and SWR Symphonieorchester, among others and has collaborated with conductors including Ádám Fischer, Teodor Currentzis, René Jacobs and Philippe Herreweghe.
Her discography includes Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde as well as the Rückert Lieder, Dvorak’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Many of her CD recordings have received awards, for example Bruckner’s Missa Solemnis with the RIAS Kammerchor (Diapason d’Or) and the complete recording of J.S. Bach’s Luther (Echo 2017).
