This Saturday, two Rayfield Allied artists make their house debut with Northern Ireland Opera in a new production of Puccini’s Tosca by Cameron Menzies.
In the title role, Svetlana Kasyan brings her acclaimed interpretation to the UK for the first time. Hailed as ‘fiery’ (Mark Pullinger, bachtrack) and ‘a beautiful, steely Tosca’ (Riitta-Leena Lempinen-Vesa, Itä-Savo), Svetlana has sung Puccini’s heroine over 90 times around Europe including at Italy’s storied La Fenice and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
Ahead of Svetlana's appearance, she has been featured in an article detailing her story, her artistry, and her friendship with Pope Francis in The Irish News.
You can see her recording of Tosca’s Act II Aria ‘Vissi d’arte’ here.
Opposite her, as her fated lover Cavaradossi, is Peter Auty, a role which he has previously sung at Grange Park Opera.
Tosca performances are at the Grand Opera House, Belfast on 9, 12, 14, 16 September.
