Countertenor Andrew Watts has been appointed the International Vocal Competition s’Hertogenbosch (IVC) General and Artistic Director, taking up the post on 1 September. He takes over from Ivan van Kalmthout and will be the first non-Dutchman at the helm of the the competition in its history of nearly 70 years.
Andrew adds his new responsibilities to a busy performance career that will see him perform at the George Enescu Festival, Teatro Real Madrid, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and with the New York Philharmonic in the coming months.
"I am very honoured to be able to contribute to the rich history of the IVC and thus to the cultural landscape of 's-Hertogenbosch, North Brabant and the Netherlands," says Andrew Watts in a first reaction.
“His vision for the future of the IVC is refreshing and bold,” said Winnie Sorgdrager, president of the IVC.
Andrew hopes to be able to share his passion for music with many during the upcoming IVC LiedDuo Competition from 10th to 15th October 2023 in den Bosch.
