This week’s #RAArtistinFocus is mezzo-soprano Anna Harvey! Anna is a member of the ensemble at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she is currently singing Olga in a new production of Eugene Onegin. She had previously sung Larina at the Verbier Festival.
Recently Anna made her role debut as Octavian in Düsseldorf with Axel Kober, with whom she has also sung Brigitta in a new production of Die tote Stadt as well as Flosshilde and Siegrune in the company’s Ring Cycle. Embracing the German romantic repertoire, this season also includes debuts in a new production of Parsifal and Mary in The Flying Dutchman.
Anna won First Prize at the Paris Opera Competition in 2022. Some of her other roles include Hänsel, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Varvara (Katya Kabanova), Ariodante, Goffredo (Rinaldo) and Ruggiero (Alcina). She is a winner of both the Oratorio and Audience Prizes at the International Vocal Competition. Her concert work, much of it in Baroque repertoire, has seen her collaborate with conductors such as Sir Roger Norrington, Masaaki Suzuki, Paul McCreesh, Laurence Cummings, Harry Bicket, Jonathan Cohen, Jane Glover, Sakari Oramo, Adam Fischer, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Maxim Emelyanychev.
