Francesca Chiejina has been awarded the Young Talent award for voice in the 2023 UK Critics' Circle Music Awards.
Decided by a circle of 90 of the the most experienced professional music critics and journalists, the Young Talent awards 'highlight the wealth of emerging talent across the country, and celebrate artists for whom 2023 was a notable breakthrough year'. Of particular note to the panel were her performances in all three of Puccini's Il trittico operas with Scottish Opera ('culminating in a spirited and lovable Lauretta') and as the title role in Handel's Semele which was 'a complete musical and dramatic delight'.
Francesca joins an illustrious list of previous recipients who include Louise Alder, Natalia Romaniw, Mary Bevan, and William Thomas amongst their ranks.
