Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Julia Jones broadcast in cinemas worldwide from The Royal Opera House

6 September 2024

The Royal Ballet and Opera has opened their 2024/25 season with Sir David McVicar's production of Le nozze di Figaro conducted by Julia Jones to excellent reviews:

"David McVicar’s detailed staging of Mozart’s comedy opens Covent Garden’s new season, with conductor Julia Jones bringing energy and drive" - Tim Ashley, The Guardian

"Julia Jones returns to conduct, with exemplary results: attentive to both balance and tempo, she and the orchestra make Mozart’s score zing along, fleshing out both its emotional highs and lows, and its sheer dramatic energy." - George Hall, The Stage

"In the pit Julia Jones kept a tight rein on things, the evening whizzed by, while the orchestra played like angels for her, enhanced by the bracing valveless horns and timps hit with hard sticks to give a period flavour to the proceedings." - Keith McDonnell, MusicOMH

On Tuesday 10th September, the performance will be broadcasted from the Royal Opera House live to cinemas worldwide and will be rebroadcasted in the following days. More information and local screenings can be found here
