During February 2024 Steve Reich's music is celebrated in Paris and Manchester
He is the featured composer for Radio France's Festival Présences in Paris, which each year celebrates a living composer's works, this year performed over 11 concerts with several further satellite events. This major concert series encompasses works from his early tape pieces right up to Jacob's Ladder which was co-commissioned by Radio France and receives it's European premiere on February 6 given by Ensemble Intercontemporain, Synergy Vocals and George Jackson.
Covering a huge scope, all of Steve Reich's major scores are performed over the course of six days, including Music for 18 Musicians, Drumming, Tehillim, Different Trains and City Life.

Following in quick succession will be the Swedish premiere of Jacob's Ladder given as part of the O/Modernt Winter Festival in Stockholm on Feb 11.
Before that in Manchester the Hallé Orchestra present a retrospective of some of Steve Reich's most revered works including The Desert Music, as well as collaborations with Royal Northern College of Music and Chetham's School of Music, and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead performing Electric Counterpoint.
