RA Artist in Focus, Orpha Phelan opens a new production at Wexford Festival

15 October 2024

This coming Sunday 20th October will see the premiere of Orpha Phelan's new production at Wexford Festival Opera. Donizetti's Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali was originally conceived by the composer as a one-act farce, but was fleshed out into a longer comic opera, which premiered in its final version in 1831.

This much-anticipated production sees Orpha's return to Wexford following her tremendously successful production of Felicien David's rarely-performed Lalla Roukh, which received four nominations in The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards 2022, including Best Opera and Best Director.

As part of our Artist in Focus series, you can find out more about Orpha's work across our social media in the days leading up to the premiere!
