This week’s #RAArtistinFocus is conductor Jakob Lehmann! Whilst his repertoire is broad, his particular strengths lie in that of Romantic performance practice and Bel Canto style.

This season he makes his debuts with Brucknerorchester Linz, Orchestra La Scintilla, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the Juilliard Orchestra. With Les Siècles he recently conducted a programme featuring Bruckner’s 9th
Symphony as part of the composer’s bicentenary.

He is Associate Artistic Director of Teatro Nuovo in the US, who aim to rediscover the world of Bel Canto opera through historically-informed performing styles and instruments. Jakob conducts Verdi’s “Macbeth” this summer in New Jersey & NYC in his seventh season with the ensemble.

Jakob's many re-invitations this season include 3 different projects with Vienna’s Tonkünstler Orchester (amongst them 3 concerts at Vienna’s Musikverein), and further performances with Anima Eterna Brugge, Concerto Köln, the Orchestra of the 18th Century, La Banda Storica Bern, and Eroica Berlin.
Further ahead he conducts concerts with Monteverdi Choir & Orchestra, Symfonieorket Vlaanderen, SWR Symphonieorchester as well as opera productions at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Opera de Rennes.
