Clare Hammond has released an album of Andrzej Panufnik's Fantasia with the Filharmonia Poznańska. It features the world premiere recording of the recently rediscovered Fantasia by Andrzej Panufnik, with the Filharmonia Poznańska and Łukasz Borowicz. Andrzej Panufnik's Fantasia was initially conceived as the first movement of his piano concerto and performed in that format by the CBSO in 1962. Panufnik immediately withdrew the movement, intending to rewrite it as a standalone work. It lay in the archives for over 60 years before receiving its Polish premiere in November 2024 with Clare Hammond, the Filharmonia Poznańska and Łukasz Borowicz.
This album was released by RecArt in December 2024 and is now available to stream online. It also features Panufnik's Nocturne for orchestra.
Clare was heavily involved in the composer's centenary year, and released a disc of solo piano works by Andrzej and Roxana Panufnik - read reviews and listen here.
Clare has a prolific discography. Her recent recording of Edmund Finnis' Youth won an Edison Klassiek Award. She will also be releasing a disc of concertos by Tippett, Britten and Walton with the BBC Symphony Orchestra for BIS Records in the autumn.
