Francesca Chiejina nominated for Royal Philharmonic Society Singer Award

30 January 2025

This morning The Royal Philharmonic Society published the shortlist for their annual awards with a nomination for Francesca Chiejina in the singer category. This is a remarkable achievement for Francesca who is also the recent recipient of the UK Critics' Circle Young Talent award.

The Royal Philharmonic Society Awards have been awarded annually since 1989 and are in recognition for the outstanding quality and scope of the performances to a live or digital audience, and the work in any context, of an individual singer in the UK. Previous winners of the award — which this year is generously sponsored by Jenny Hodgson —  include Karita Mattila, Nicky Spence, Roderick Williams, and Nina Stemme.

Additionally, Birmingham Opera Company's production of 'New Year' — in which Francesca starred as JoAnn —has been nominated in the Opera and Music Theatre category.

In February Francesca returns to the Royal Opera House where she will reprise her role as the soprano soloist in Crystal Pite's 'Light of Passage' singing Górecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs.
